ASUS announces the ROG XBOX Ally X20, with OLED screen and anti-drift stick

On the occasion of the Computex 2026 expo, ASUS celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the ROG lineup by unveiling a new and luxurious version of its XBOX portable hardware. This is the ROG XBOX Ally X20, an evolution of the handheld line inaugurated last year that introduces a feature strongly desired by fans: an OLED display.

This celebratory variant will not arrive on the market alone for now, but will be distributed exclusively within a high-tech bundle that includes the brand new AR ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 glasses. By connecting the glasses to the device via a simple USB-C cable, we will be able to project in front of our eyes a giant 171-inch virtual screen with a 240Hz refresh rate and very low latency, thus obtaining a completely new perspective of mobile gaming.

The differences to the standard XBOX Ally X model are mainly concentrated in the display and exterior design. The new ROG XBOX Ally X20 adopts a 7.4-inch ROG Nebula HDR OLED panel, which represents a first-time debut for the company's portable devices. To maximize the visual area and guarantee us an even more immersive experience, the upper bezel has been reduced by 60%. Notable innovations are also found on the control front, since we will be able to take advantage of drift-proof TMR joysticks designed to offer high precision in any genre of game, from racing titles to first-person shooters. The overall aesthetic is enhanced by a translucent black shell that reveals the internal components, embellished with elegant gold details that recall the style of the AR glasses included.

Under the body, the hardware configuration instead follows the excellent technical specifications that we had already seen on board the XBOX Ally X. In fact, we will find an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor flanked by 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD disk, components capable of guaranteeing top-level performance.

At the time of the presentation, ASUS unfortunately did not formalize either the selling price or the launch window of this bundle, nor did it reveal whether in the future the console will also be sold without glasses; We will therefore have to wait for the next few months to find out more.
