Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, all the details and videos from the announcement event

As expected, today Ubisoft finally announced Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, a faithful remake of the beloved pirate chapter of the series originally released in 2013. Developed by Ubisoft Singapore and rebuilt from scratch thanks to the latest version of the Anvil graphics engine, the title will arrive on July 9 offering a totally renewed experience but deeply anchored to its origins.

Unlike the role-playing drifts recently undertaken by the series, the developers have explicitly clarified that Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced will not be an RPG, but will remain a single-player adventure strongly focused on storytelling. To keep this vision strong, the multiplayer component and the original DLCs have been removed in favor of a more fluid and enriched base experience.

As the rebel captain Edward Kenway, who regains his original voice thanks to the return of actor Matt Ryan, we will sail the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy crossing legends such as Blackbeard, Anna Bonny and Calico Jack. The story will enjoy new narrative content, including new missions dedicated to three new crew members. Even the sections in the present through the Animus have been reworked: abandoning the old patterns, they will now focus mainly on Edward's inner conflicts, offering completely new moments.

The gameplay has undergone profound changes to be more modern and dynamic. The combat system has been action-oriented, becoming much faster. Wielding dual swords, pistols and hidden blades, we will be able to take advantage of perfect parries to perform instant kills and trigger up to four chain kills. During the clashes we will have to pay attention to the visual indicators to dodge the enemy attacks that can be learned and we will be able to use the surrounding environment to our advantage, taking advantage of walls, ledges and destructible objects. Great news is about the old tailing and interception missions: getting caught will no longer cause the frustrating instant desynchronization. If we are detected, the action will continue without interruption and the target will react accordingly, forcing us to quickly adapt our strategy.

The exploration of the game world has also received a heavy dose of improvements. The ship mechanics have been made deeper, and a new weather system will actively affect our ship's movements. In addition, underwater exploration has been greatly expanded to make treasure hunting even more fascinating. To accompany us on these journeys we will have a soundtrack embellished by the return of the artist Woodkid, who will present a new song reworked during the year.

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced will be sold at a price of 59.99 Euros and will be available in three different editions:

  • Standard: Includes base game.

  • Deluxe: Digital-only edition that adds the Master Assassin Character Pack and the Master Assassin Naval Pack to the pack.

  • Collector's: Includes all of Deluxe's digital content combined with high-quality physical collectibles, including an Edward figurine, a wearable metal pin, an exclusive SteelBook, and a fabric map.

Finally, anyone who pre-orders will receive Blackbeard's Crimson Pack as a bonus, which will allow us to equip an exclusive costume for Edward, a pair of swords and a set of guns.
