EA today announced that its return to golf with the EA Sports PGA Tour will take place on March 24; It will include all four major men's golf tournaments: Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S . Open Championship and The Open.
In addition, the EA SPORTS PGA TOUR will launch the Road to the Masters, which brings with it an unparalleled tradition and stakes with Augusta National, the challenges, tournaments and equipment related to the Masters. The Masters made its first virtual appearance with EA SPORTS in 2011 and its return to video games has been highly demanded by golf enthusiasts. EA SPORTS will also provide more details on live service add-ons during the 2023 PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour seasons.

The announcement is accompanied by a new gameplay trailer for the game, in which we are introduced to the brand new Pure Strike hit system that gives golf fans all the tools they need to realistically attack every hole in every course, just like the pros do. Pure Strike also helps ensure that the swing and unique characteristics of every professional golfer are accurately reflected in the game. Pure Strike incorporates the three parts of each golf shot: a fluid and very accurate swing mechanics regarding the length of the backswing and the player's follow-through speed, an innovative ball behavior that allows you to behave more accurately on a variety of terrains and course conditions, and realistic field dynamics that mimic the real field.

These are the other features of the game:

  • World Famous Courses - The tee is yours at 30 courses, including some of the world's most important venues such as Augusta National Golf Club, Pebble Beach Golf Links, Southern Hills Country Club, The Old Course at St Andrews Links, The Country Club, Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Ocean Course, Torrey Pines, Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France, East Lake Golf Club, TPC Southwind, The Los Angeles Country Club, Wilmington Country Club and more. The EA SPORTS PGA TOUR will also feature the courts that hosted past Majors in 2021 and 2022, as well as new 2023 Major courses that will roll out after launch.
  • Your Career, Your Way - EA SPORTS PGA TOUR offers players an RPG-like progression system on the way to the Masters. The more their golf game improves, the closer they will get to becoming Major champions. Players will be able to create and customize a golfer, develop their skills and master each course to attack each hole like a pro. With 20 types of shots available as players progress through the game, they can improve their driving, approach, short game, or putting skills, depending on their style. Players will compete to become a Major Champion and take on the best PGA TOUR events in the FedExCup seasonal hunt, as well as conquer top amateur championships, including the Augusta National Women's Amateur, U.S. Amateur and other elite international amateur events.
  • THE PLAYERS Championship and FedExCup Playoff - The PLAYERS Championship and all three FedExCup Playoff events will be featured in-game, and players can earn in-game FedExCup points in Career Mode for the opportunity to participate in FedExCup Playoffs. As part of Career Mode, top golfers at the end of the year will have the opportunity to win the FedExCup.
  • Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and The Amundi Evian Championship - In partnership with the LPGA, EA SPORTS PGA TOUR allows fans to participate in The Amundi Evian Championship, one of the five major leagues on the LPGA Tour, and have the opportunity to play as different athletes and create a player in the revamped Create-A-Player feature. Players will also be able to participate in a series of LPGA-themed challenges and other events. Iona Stephen will join EA's commentary team as the first female commentator on the course, bringing her professional playing experience and broadcasting golf.
  • Real Images of the Course - EA SPORTS PGA TOUR will also feature more realistic visuals than any golf game using EA's Frostbiteâ„¢ engine. Using cutting-edge tools such as drone technology, custom LiDAR flight helicopters and more to develop maps, EA SPORTS PGA TOUR depicts the fields exactly as they appear in real life. Photogrammetry and scanners were also used to create precise renderings of clubhouses, iconic vegetation, bridges, tee markers, rock formations and other elements of the course, giving players realistic visual experiences of their favorite courts.
  • ShotLink - Using ShotLink powered by CDW, the PGA TOUR's proprietary real-time scoring system since 2001, golfers will be authentically reproduced with accurate player ratings, magnified and realistic in-game events.
