Konami reveals the gameplay of eFootball

As promised, Konami has released the first gameplay dedicated to the new eFootball football title showing us various features of the game that should stand out somewhat from those present in the previous products of the Japanese developer. Following the details released by the developer, followed by the video.

  • Ball control
Players will be able to control the strength of the touch on the ball and determine the dribbling speed; from the first control to the conduction of the ball, as in the real world. In addition, on PlayStation®5, eFootball™ will use the DualSense's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to make you feel the difference in the player's movements*.
  • Deceiving the defender
Thanks to the great freedom of control that the player will have on the ball, every action will turn into a mental game*. It will be possible to carry out a wide variety of dribbles and feises with very intuitive commands. In combination, these actions will make every clash exciting, both for the attacker and for the defender.
  • Steal the ball and create opportunities
Players will be able to block the opponent's shot with their body or intuit the opponent's movements and thus intercept the pass. Of course, stealing the ball near the opponent's goal will create important opportunities to go to the net.
  • Physical clashes
eFootballâ„¢ faithfully recreates the dynamics of physical clashes, extremely important in real football, introducing a charge command for physical defense. In addition, players on the attacking team can use melee to keep the ball in play, making the offensive and defensive game much more dynamic.
  • Perform a precision shot*
The option to load a "precision shot", characterized by new animations, will make the game even more technical and exciting. Players will be able to perform special kicks, such as precision crosses, filtering quick passes and rising shots. These new actions will take longer to execute, which is why players will need to make the most of the opportunities that will arise during the game.
  • Focus on 1vs1 clashes
The eFootballâ„¢ development team analyzed football tactics in the real world to create a new set of win/lose rules for "1vs1" battles. Thanks to Motion Matching technology, the game will evaluate in real time the ball, the speed of movement, the direction of the body, the physical skills and much more to control the movement of each player. These win/lose rules work in tandem with the player's movement to make the game more realistic, including refereeing decisions, which have been reworked.
  • Improved team play tactics and new controls
Team tactics are a vital part of football, so the artificial intelligence of players not in possession of the ball has been renewed. This, combined with the new attack and defense controls, will allow players much more freedom of play.
  • A new room: Duel
The new "Duel" camera will zoom in on the player when he is engaged in a 1vs1 clash, allowing the player to enjoy the 1vs1 action from a close distance. When the player in possession of the ball is free, the field of vision will expand, allowing the player to make a long pass at the right time.
  • General improvements
The new Motion Matching animation system makes players' movements more fluid and natural. Thanks to the collaboration with a research institute, moreover, the movement of the ball has also been significantly improved. Finally, the action never stops during the game thanks to the Seamless Restart system.

*This feature will be added in a post-launch update. Wait for more information
