They Shall Not Pass , arriving in March 2017, it will be the first expansion for Battlefield â„¢ 1 . They Shall Not Pass, it will offer new maps and weapons and a chance to play with the French army, will expand the global war.

Although for the moment we don't want to give too much away, we've prepared something special: some sketches created by team SAYS. These images represent the vision of the study about the battlefields on which you will fight in They Shall Not Pass. Keep reading to find out what were the sources of inspirations for the burn, the muddy trenches and the restricted areas of close combat.

In the early stages of the battle of Verdun, were exploded about 1 million rounds of artillery. The impacts have created destructive fires, around the walled city and its surrounding battlefields. In the stories of the soldiers, he often spoke of how these fires were visible from a great distance. We wanted to recreate these early stages of the fighting a battle known to history under the name Devil's Anvil, anvil of the devil.

Initial clashes near Verdun reduced villages like Samogneux and whole forests to a pile of rubble and the smoldering stumps. The battle of Verdun dragged on for over 9 months, in different forms, making it the longest of the entire conflict. We wanted our players to take part in the first, violent attacks, which occurred in February 1916.

We were deeply touched by the stories of the heroic deeds of the garrison of Fort Vaux, who fought hard in dark tunnels, defending every centimeter of soil. In a maze of narrow passages, French and Germans faced each other with ferocity, grenades, flamethrowers and toxic gases.

During the entire battle of Verdun were exploded about 40 million artillery, who literally pulverized soil, reducing it to a desolate, almost Lunar scenery. Under some of the trenches, tunnels and underground fortresses will provide a new setting, for Battlefield 1 's ever lived before.

After Verdun, we be inspired by the battle of Soissons, fought in the latter part of 1918, to create new maps on which recreate the massive attacks of French tanks. The fighting is concentrated around the bridges over the river Aisne, while near the village of Fismes lies a great danger.
