Sea of Thieves exceeds one million players, Rare updates us on the status of the server

Three days have passed since the players were able to begin their adventures in Sea of Thieves , and as often happens in all server-based online titles, the initial influx of users has created some problems although still did not prevent users benefit from the title.

The guys at Rare so they decided to release a video-updated game state and servers, to make us understand what were the main problems these days and what is being done to mitigate them.

First, the Rare boss Craig Duncan and the Executive Producer of Sea of Thieves Joe Neate tell us that the game has seen these days an incredible influx of audience, undoubtedly aided by the presence of the game in the Xbox Game Pass ; in the first 48 hours he logged more than a million players , with an influx of connections that reached 5000 new users per minute peak times. This clearly has put a strain on the servers in the game, which had to bear a load 4 times higher than that experienced in the last Test Scales.

This has created a number of problems, the best known of which are matchmaking issues for creating a new game (also playing alone) and delays in achieving objectives, money and reputation when we complete various missions or special actions of the game.

Rare explains that the period of greatest water user peak is what goes between the 22:00 and the 03:00, when European players are also those in the US; at this time it is more possible that these problems.

Developers explain to be working 24 hours out of 24 in order to limit the problems, and to that end, some changes have already been applied to the server, while others will be made shortly. We offer some tips in order to navigate more easily in these turbulent waters toss: as regards money and reputation does not unlock when you sell the items to vendors, we explain that such rewards should not be left lost but will appear at next new game we're going to do. Rare however, it is recommended to not sloggarsi and start a new game just to see the prizes, because this would only exacerbate the problem of concurrent connections. However, this problem should be fixed before the next peak period, scheduled for tonight.

For those who have problems to start a new game by itself, suggest you try to find some crews already online and add to them: this will allow you to play as the "path" is different from that of creating a new game.

There is also an issue that causes the disappearance of personal belongings of the players when they begin a game: this is a client-side rather than server bug, and will be corrected with a patch coming in early next week. This same patch will solve some tearing emerged in the Xbox One X in the game.

If you are familiar with English you can see the entire video by clicking here : beyond the information provided, it's still nice to see how the team put the face (and dark circles!) in front of the community to explain honestly and frankly i current problems and what is being done to solve them.

Please note that game servers are under maintenance, in order to solve various problems, at these times:

  • today from 10:00 to 15:00
  • Saturday, March 24 from from 10:00 to 15:00
  • Tuesday 27 March from 10:00 to 15:00 (this probably coincides with the release of the first patch)

Of course stay tuned for all the latest information on Sea of Thieves !
