Microsoft stops the production of Kinect: it is the end of an era

The news should not take anyone by surprise, since in recent years the motion sensor/Microsoft Camcorder had a reduced role in the strategies of the House of Redmond, until the recent Xbox One update which introduced the third-party game streaming webcam support and Skype. And now it's official: Microsoft Kinect production stops.

The revolutionary device has sold well since its introduction in 2010, 25 million units and has been instrumental in the success of the Xbox 360 at the end of last generation, giving new life to the console and making it extremely popular in households. With the arrival of Xbox One, however, the motion sensor has become less and less popular, both because of the forced the launch console bundles, whether via a little support from developers; Xbox Xbox One S and One X even they don't even have a dedicated port to the device, requiring an appropriate adapter to use.

Now, with the closure of the production, we know for sure that Kinect is no longer part of the future of Xbox, for better or for worse. R.I.P. Kinect!
