EA Announces closure of Visceral Games, Star Wars project moved to other studio

Another one bites the dust . It's always sad to hear of the closure of development studies, and it is best when the study in question is one with an important story as Visceral Games , creator of the Dead Space saga. EA has announced today that it will reduce gradually shut entirely the Californian study, so far working on a new title from Star Wars.

And it is precisely this game that convinced the editor to quit the study: the EA's Executive Vice President Patrick Söderlund explained that the company was not satisfied with the progress made on the title and the setting is completed, probably too linear Visceral had given him, and it was decided to move the project at a "mega-studio" composed of several studies worldwide and led by EA EA Vancouver, triggering the closure of Visceral. EA Vancouver will have the task of changing the game design while maintaining a strong focus on history, giving much more freedom to the player: although it was not said explicitly, everything suggests that EA wants to turn it into an open-world title.

Anything was worth then the decision to ask Amy Hennig, ex and veteran Naughty Dog, head of the firm; We do not know now what will be its fate, but it seems to have been completely excluded from this title.

This news means, unfortunately, the end of all hope to see return Dead Space on our screens: when closed the studio that gave birth to the horror series, it is unlikely that someone else might make it rise from the ashes.
