Ybarra: Project 1 GB of RAM available for Scorpio adds games

Now the specifics of Project Scorpio are known and we already know that the console will have 12 GB of fast GDDR5 memory, 8 of which should have been available to games while 4 GB were reserved for the operating system. We use the past tense because it will no longer be so: the Xbox Development Director Mike Ybarra has tweeted by announcing that the team managed to free up an additional 1 GB for lead to 9 GB available memory for games.

By way of comparison, Xbox One has 5 GB available for games, while PS4 Pro has 5.5. With 9 GB available to developers will have much more freedom to create more detailed worlds and live, as well as to create textures in high resolution for 4 k games. In short, the " world's most powerful console " has just become even more powerful!

And there's more good news: Ybarra has subsequently explained that, for games that don't exploit all 9 GB, unused space will be used as a "RAM disk" to make the cache of reads and writes to hard disk, thus making it much faster loading of games.

Please note that Project Scorpio will finally be shown, both as regards the outward appearance that for the performance of games that will run from 23:00 on Sunday night, when is the Xbox E3 Conference. Stay tuned for any updates!
