Rumor: Destiny 2 reaches end 2017 will represent a reboot for the series

With the release of multiple expansions, the latter of which has just arrived with the iron Lords , Destiny has managed to renew for two years without requiring to Bungie develop a new version of the game; the arrival of a Destiny 2 is, however, inevitable, and according to recent rumor might come in a year with important news.

According to sources of the NeoGAF forum user shinobi602, supported by blog Kotaku , it seems that Bungie is working on the follow up of its popular FPS with plans to release it at the end of 2017 and with major changes from the current game.

It seems that Destiny 2 will be a completely different game from the current, more like a reboot of the franchise; This could mean that our Guardians will not be carried by the current to the new game, bringing us so starting from scratch with new characters.

According to rumor, the game will introduce much more rich and dynamic environments: instead of "social" areas separated from the game world, such as the tower and those introduced by expansions, this time players will interact with each other and with retailers directly in the game world where will the missions, and also regarding the multiplayer matchmaking it looks like this will be bootable in the background while we're exploring the world rather than having to go into orbit and wait a match as is the case today. In short, the whole thing will assume the lineaments of a true MMO.

As for the story, it seems that this will focus on the Cabal and Saturn, leading to the arrival of new faces and characters, along with races, factions and enemies so far never seen; This will help to make entirely new game than ever before.

It seems, however, to help in a company so impressive, Bungie will use two external studies: High Moon and Vicarious Visions, already used in the past by Activision in various projects.

Obviously, for now it is only rumor, so take it all with due care; Surely we will begin to learn more around the spring of next year, when Activision will pave the way for a likely unveiling at E3. Stay tuned!
