Gears of War 4: new details on the history and role of DeeBee

IGN has posted a new Preview of Gears of War 4 through which we learn new details about DeeBee, the new robotic enemies revealed in the previous gameplay that you'll actually fight in the game, and the plot behind the title.

The site explains that after the events of GoW 3, evening is now in ruins and humanity to the brink of extinction; the few individuals were collected by COG and taken in fortified towns, so that we can better protect and give hope to humanity. The community is led by Prime Minister Jinn, an "Iron Lady", to protect the low population of the planet, the population has decided to avoid hazardous work such as building and maintaining law and order by creating humanoid robots DeeBee.

When the various colonies began to be attacked by a mysterious threat, the Jinn decided then to send DeeBee investigating deeming however responsible of attacks the Outsiders, human groups who have decided to live outside the protection of the COG and including JD Fenix and his friend fled after he deserted the military body. This explains why, in the gameplay a few days ago, DeeBee treat our heroes as enemies, having identified as Outsiders.

IGN then explains that the humanoid robots have a "personality": before and during the fighting are warning the enemies that do not accept and encourage anti-social behaviour to return to their homes, or offer to help other characters giving sometimes comical moments life involuntarily. You can also dilaniarli with the Lancer or make him explode his head as with other enemies, creating effects equally spectacular and splatter, although this time the flesh and blood are replaced by gear and lubricating liquid.

Obviously also the combat tactics vary, depending on the types of DeeBee; the Trackers for example are small spherical robot who try to reach us to make us explode, but if we have to kick him before the detonation could send them back to the sender by damaging their fellows. Then there are the DR-1, heavy models that use embedded jets to Dodge our attacks and overcome the damaged roofs, and that when they try to get closer to enemies by being blown up.

The presence of these new enemies will allow us to use new weapons created for them but we can get out of their carcasses, as the Embar, sniper rifle without sights, the MITRE Enforcer, shotgun Overkill (who fires a shot when we pull a trigger and a second shot when we leave), the missile launcher Except Rocket Launcher and machine gun heavy Tri-Shot Chaingun.

That's all for now: we refer to the coming days for more info on Gears of War 4 !
