Phil Spencer reveals few details about the present, past and future of Xbox One

During an interview with IGN, Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft's Xbox Division, shared several interesting information about Xbox One, covering the current state of the console, its future and offering us his point of view on past decisions. One of the first questions focused on the installation of games, at the moment relatively long especially for third-party games. About Phil has made it clear that the team is trying to reduce installation times and that new Developer Kit will improve the situation.

With regard to this console, Spencer explained that Master Chief Halo: The Collection does not have a Special bundle with console because it wanted to achieve this only with Sunset Overdrive so he can push the Insomniac title and show developers that Microsoft supports up to their title. As regards the absence of a Collector's Edition for Halo: TMCC, the Manager explains that you do not want to "squeeze" players with an expensive version of the game. Spencer believes, however, that the collection will sell much, surpassing even the Xbox team's internal projections.

There was also way to talk about the past: Spencer explains that was part of the team that designed the Xbox One and then doesn't want to do anything that washes his hands of decisions, since it helped to take them. Explains, however, that, if it had been him at Xbox Division, the main focus of the team would be the console gaming side rather than the entertainment media is still important for a home console, but that gaming should remain the most important. Phil explained that, because of the many criticisms received after E3 2013, team morale was not high; but now after E3 2014 the situation is profoundly changed and team members are as "rejuvenated" by the enthusiasm that now surrounds the console.

Coming to the future of the next console feature Phil marks universal profile setting that, as already on the Xbox 360, for example, will ensure that the pad's layout is always the same for all games used by that account. Particularly interesting is that stated about new games being released; in fact Spencer confirmed several upcoming ads by both internal teams and from third parties, and that most of these will be new IP. With regard to the kind of new games being released. Spencer stated that " there is no need at the moment for another sci-fi shooter and a racing game" , and then the internal team will focus probably on another.

Passing the Rare , Spencer will meet the team within a couple of weeks to take a look at the work in progress, but most will make happy fans of House of Conker and many other classics, the head of Xbox division doesn't want to be seen only Rare like Kinect Sports , try instead to work with new IP.

Spencer also had to speak of Crackdown, explaining that the second game in the series has been developed too fast and this has impacted negatively on quality, which fans have noticed. For Crackdown 3 you want to give to the development team, the Scots Cloudgine , all the time needed to create a great game.

Finally, also some hints at the upcoming Gears of War, codenamed Warfare , that Spencer would take more strong and dark hued, more like the first chapter in short; and the recently acquired Minecraft for which Microsoft would like greater interconnection between PCs and other platforms.

Lots of irons in the fire so to a future that promises very interesting with Xbox One.
